Kids are called another form of god because of their innocence and honesty. Best thing I like about children is their tension free life. Kids pose many questions about simple things and they are very curious to learn about new things and ideas. If we as adults want to learn new language it is very difficult to grasp new words and recollect later but, in case of kids it’s very easy the reason being they are open to learning new ideas, languages etc. Kids never choose their friends based on whether they are rich or poor, high caste or low caste. They make friends easily as there is no selfishness involved in choosing friends.

It is hard to choose three foods only to eat for the rest of my life. There are so many great things to eat out there and, ever since I evolved out of my picky eater stage, I'm slowly finding more and more things I enjoy eating. However, I know there are three things I definitely cannot live without. The first one is chocolate. Yes, I'm a chocoholic! And I also have a sweet tooth. But the thing is, with chocolate, the possibilities are endless. Even if you don't want dessert, there is nothing like a cup of cocoa in the winter or a glass of chocolate milk in warmer weather. The flavors are endless these days too, especially with cocoas. One year, I bought five different kinds of cocoa mix--rich, dark, French vanilla, triple chocolate and mint. For chocolate milk, good old Hershey's syrup suffices. The second would have to be cheese, though I'm pickier about my cheeses. Sharp and blue are my two favorites. The milder cheddars are okay, but sharp are better. Also, there is a lot you can do with cheese--grilled cheese sandwiches, cheeseburgers, shredded cheese on a salad, or just slice some and eat it by itself. Lastly, I'd have to go with peanut butter. It's cheap, it tastes good as long as you buy quality brands, and it has protein necessary for a person and its filling. Also, one could say it's comforting. There's nothing like a peanut butter sandwich when you're feeling depressed.

There is no wonder that students see their teachers on par with parents, or even above them. That is because it is teachers who actually play a major role in shaping the career of children. All the advice you get at home may not be as appealing as the one you get from your school teacher. I can recall a great incident that happened to me when I was hardly 10 years of age. As a care-free character I was mostly in the habit of going to school late, or at least after the classes start. But, after so many years, I still remember how my class teacher spoke to me in person one day after the classes were over, and advised me to learn how to be punctual in life. She also told me that at some stage of my life I will be rewarded for being punctual which proved correct in my profession. Now I know very well that there cannot be a better advice to get in my life.

My favorite modes of entertainment are generally sports and electronic related. My passion for both sports and electronics melds itself together in my profession as a Golf Instructor. On the technology side I also enjoy teaching and using an indoor golf simulator which is basically a high tech golf video game. As everybody knows, farmer have a difficult time at the farm. The work is strenuous especially where traditional agricultural methods are followed. They are to be bathed and the shed is to be cleaned before milking them. After breakfast, I am back to my farm again. When planting season comes, the work is really hard. The soil is to be dug using the spade. Watering the plants is done usually in the afternoons. If there are any agricultural produce to sell, they must be taken to the local market. Prices of products fluctuate every week and so a farmer is not assured of a fixed income. By the time I come back home in the evening, I will be totally exhausted.

I would like to be a sea turtle. I feel being one would allow me the ability to explore my strange new world better than if I were say a shark or a very fast swimming fish. I feel I’d miss much of the experience zooming around like that. As a sea turtle I can slowly and deliberately thank in the panorama of the ocean. When I think about Heaven I think about my father. I lost him when I was 11. I believe God will allow us to be with our family members again. To spend eternity with the ones we love. I was the youngest child in my family, with three older brothers. As a military kid, we lived in a large neighborhood full of little monsters not unlike ourselves. The favorite pass time in my particular neighborhood was baseball. If I had to pick one thing that I desperately missed from my childhood, that would be it. Because I was four years younger than my brothers, I wasn’t allowed to play often. When I did play, I always missed. It was always the same, but I always wanted to try it. The last summer I played baseball I was nine years old. On my favorite brother’s turn, I edged close to the plate. I edged too close. When he swung, he released the bat and it came flying backward.

I don’t remember it hitting. I don’t remember how the puddle of blood got smeared onto the patio. I don’t even remember the car ride to the hospital. What I do remember is the stitches, and being told I barely kept my eye. I also remember my mother fainting when she saw him sewing me up. I was tasked with handing my own doctor the instruments. That’s a mom for you. I also remember my brother waiting on me hand and foot for months after that. I never did get to swing and hit, but I will always remember baseball fondly. One day, maybe I’ll try it again. For now though, I keep that bat in a special place in my closet, a reminder of more exciting times.

I guess the reason I haven’t done anything about that is I have yet to find the right person to settle down with that I feel I can spend the rest of my life with. Obviously this goes hand in hand with having children. I feel plenty mature and mentally prepared for children, however I also know they are a major financial responsibility and require a lot of attention that I might not be able to provide at this present time. As far as how I would spend my last 2 weeks, I would be sure to let everyone know I really feel about them and do my best to right any wrongs I may have done in the past.

That was my first reaction when I saw the shopping list my mom did for me. Well, the story is that I am going to spend my first year in college and for the first time I will be far from home. Mom and dad are of course worried about their only girl so they really make sure to tell all their advices and tips. Mom has always been so hands on with all of us so she prepared a shopping list of the things I need to buy. She said I need to get bear spray to make sure I am safe from punks or whatnot. When I was a kid I didn’t know how easy it was. I thought life was tough. School for eight hours a day, homework for an hour, and then play time. I loved learning, and still do to this day. I would give anything to be in school now. I loved college, and not for the partying, but for the learning. I just like learning. Now my life is work for eight hours a day, errands, yard work, and then play time – no learning. Am I happy? Yes, but do I yearn for the stress free days of childhood? Sure. I still get my playtime though.

Last month, my dad told us that we will be having out of the country trip. So me, my sister and little brother were all excited that we started planning what things to bring and clothes to wear. I would change the year that I spent deployed with the military – I still don’t see anything particularly redeeming about that year, so I’d prefer to have spent that year at home with my husband. It would have been a good year to start having kids and to get settled in the career field that I was working in. That year was really disruptive for all those things, but it was what it was. I would also re-do every conflict I’ve had with family or friends – hopefully I’d take a little more time to think and be gracious before responding.

I suppose I would regret not having any children, but that’s not something I can really control, so it would be hard to have regrets. The life I live (and have lived) is meant to be, and I trust God for the things I’ve been able to do. Assuming I wasn’t bed-ridden for these last two weeks, I’d probably travel somewhere with my family and then go around to where my good friends are and say good-bye. I suppose part of that time would be needed to sort out some practical things for leaving my husband and family as well.

My Mother

She is the only person who has known me my whole life, who has been there my whole life and has had a huge part into shaping me into who I am (although, sadly, for worse). My mother is depressed, although she's never been diagnosed and would never be able to afford treatment. I suffer from my own depression caused by my upbringing, both from her and her various boyfriends/various step fathers (my biological father died of a brain tumour when I was 2). My mother is the one person I can never describe to anyone and no matter where I go or what I do, I always feel some kind of guilt or responsibility for her. I feel like I should help her, but I don't know how and I know it shouldn't be my responsibility. Anyway, I can't say for sure where some of my personality or my inner strength comes from, but I know that a lot of my problems come from her.

I'm hoping to move there in the next few years, although I've never been there before. We live in Australia, which has a huge load of problems and seems to get worse every day (despite it being an economic power at the moment, ironic really). Norway is consistently in the top three countries of the Human Development Index: education is cheap (about $100 per semester, as opposed to the $3000 I pay now), the weather is cold (which my husband and I would both prefer), the people are nice and they just seem to do things *right*. Check out their prison system if you get a chance - that's how criminals should be dealt with, not cages, and especially not execution. So yes, I would love to go to Norway and check it out for potentially living there soon. Alternately, Chernobyl. The disaster happened the year of my birth and it's always vaguely fascinated me. I just want to be in amongst the strangeness of that place.

My Baby Brother

This past week I found myself extremely busy. Tuesday was my mom's birthday, so I picked up my aunt and my son and we stopped at Cousins, Subway and Speedway for her birthday lunch. See my mom ended up spending her birthday in the hospital. So we just threw her a mini-party in her room. The hospital sent up a delicious cake that was evenly split. She enjoyed her sub, cake and coffee. On Wednesday I found myself spending the day at Children's Court with my daughter. My 17 year old daughter placed a no-contact order on a fellow classmate for harassment and Wednesday was our day to finalize the order. Thursday I spent my day working out and running errands, Friday was my day. I stayed home and just bumped around my house. Never even got out of my jammies that day!

A favorite past time of mine is music. I enjoy both listening to it and playing it. The past couple of days I've been playing my way through a number of ragtime piano pieces by Scott Joplin. I was never a great pianist, but Joplin's works are easy enough for me to play through yet difficult enough to still present something of a challenge. While learning a new piece takes a good amount of time, you get such an incredible rush when you are able to play through it successfully. I finished memorizing the Weeping Willow Rag this morning. You don't truly know a piece until you can play it from memory. To be able to play it without staring at the music or thinking too hard about it is incredibly exhilarating. I truly enjoy actually creating the music myself, rather than listening to a recording of it.

In Search of Sustenance

One does not make a large amount of money as a short-order cook. Thus, when I do have money for groceries, I highly enjoy cooking and trying new things. This past Wednesday I tried my hand at Thai cuisine. After searching through a number of recipes online, I decided to make a red coconut curry. I created the curry by sautéing garlic and onion in olive oil, added a number of vegetables (broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini, red and green bell pepper, water chestnuts, and pineapple), let everything cook down a bit, and added red curry paste and coconut milk. I let everything simmer for a while before serving it over a bed of jasmine rice. It was delicious. There was plenty left over and I ate well for the next several days.
